Review: Fire with Fire

Review: Fire with Fire

November 23, 2015 Reviews 0 ★★★★½

Oh my, this book, this series, is SOOOOOOO addicting. I read Fire with Fire in one night, Burn for Burn in two days, and these books are pretty hefty for being contemporaries! What’s got me Hooked The Paranormal element – While reading Burn for Burn, I wasn’t quite sure where this plot line was going, but NOW it just makes complete SENSE! Mary’s testing her abilities in this book, and struggling with whether or not she should tell Kat and Lillia. She’s trying to get over what happened to her with Reeve, but nothing is really doing the trick. Even… Read more »

November 20, 2015 Memes 2

I missed this Top Ten Tuesday (a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish) a couple weeks ago, but in honor of Mockingjay: Part 2 coming out today (which I hope to see VERY soon), I thought it would be fitting to talk about the adaptions I still need to watch. Monthly Update: October

Monthly Update: October

November 18, 2015 Updates 3

Last year I tried to do quarterly updates for all my challenges, and honestly that was really hard for me. I would always wait to the last minute. And linking all those cover images for books I read over three months took FOREVER. So this year, I’m giving monthly updates a try. I’m hopping that it will help keep me organized. So here we go…   Things I Did: Two weddings and then RELAXATION. Honestly, sometimes I take the simple weekend at home not doing very much for granted. I feel like every month since (and before) my husband and… Read more »

Review: Burn for Burn

Review: Burn for Burn

November 9, 2015 Reviews 1 ★★★★½

I do SOOOOO enjoy a good revenge book. Or movie, I mean John Tucker Must Die or Mean Girls, I just love this stuff. There were three main characters, all with their own unique POVs. Kat’s the badass, Mary’s the shy one, and Lillia is the popular goody good. I know that this book was co-written, so maybe that has something to do with it, but it was amazing how each POV had their own voice, and at no point was I confused about which one I was reading. Each of the main characters have their reasons for wanting revenge. Kat wants… Read more »

Mini Review: The White Rose

Mini Review: The White Rose

November 2, 2015 Reviews 2 ★★★★

The White Rose definitely fills in a lot of the blanks from The Jewel. All the questions about why the Lone City is the way it is, what the auguries are, and what kind of revolution is brewing are all answered. It definitely feels like a second book in a trilogy as it’s not super plot driven, but I think in some ways I liked that a bit better than the Jewel. Things finally got a chance to calm down on the plot front and I think that it provides a good set up for the next book. That said… Read more »
