Mini Review: The Rest of Us Just Live Here

Mini Review: The Rest of Us Just Live Here

January 18, 2016 Reviews 0 ★★★★

At first I thought it was a bit ridiculous and I may have been a bit confused by what was going on with the indie kids and I wasn’t completely sold on the main characters plot, but as I learned more and more about Mikey, Jared, Mel, Henna, and Meredith, the more I enjoyed the book. I love how Mikey and Mel have dealt and are dealing with their mental illnesses, how crazy parents are portrayed in a realistic way, and how not every problem can… Read more »

Why YA Fantasy Lovers Should Read The Name of the Wind

Why YA Fantasy Lovers Should Read The Name of the Wind

January 7, 2016 Reviews 3 ★★★★½

The Name of the Wind is one of my first ventures into the adult fantasy world and while I was a bit anxious about how hefty the book was… 662 pages with a smaller font than I’m used to. It exceeded my expectations and I definitely think that fellow YA fantasy lovers should give it a try! And here’s why…. The story telling is WONDERFUL. Seriously, I don’t know if there is any other book I can think of that does storytelling in such a compelling way. The whole book is Kvothe telling the Chronicler his life story, sure there are… Read more »

2016 Challenges

2016 Challenges

January 6, 2016 Challenges 4

I really wanted to reduce the number of challenges this year to 3, because I did 5 reading challenges plus some extra blogging ones last year and it just proved to be too much. But then I saw a 4th challenge I just COULDN’T refuse… Tamora Pierce (but of course!) and all of these challenges are books I would read anyways so I’m thinking it will okay. Read Tamora Pierce Challenge Host: Nori @ ReadWriteLove28 The Goal: Read as many of Tamora Pierce’s books as you want! MY GOAL: I kind of jumped the gun in December and reread The Protector of the… Read more »

Monthly Update: November

Monthly Update: November

December 10, 2015 Updates 3

Last year I tried to do quarterly updates for all my challenges, and honestly that was really hard for me. I would always wait to the last minute. And linking all those cover images for books I read over three months took FOREVER. So this year, I’m giving monthly updates a try. I’m hopping that it will help keep me organized. So here we go… Things I Did: November went by rather quickly, but for the most part I was able to relax and catch up on some household chores. I finish the challenge my gym was doing, and then… Read more »
