Catching Up: Yep, It’s March

Catching Up: Yep, It’s March

March 20, 2016 Challenges, Updates 2

Okay so I KNOW that I was pretty much patting myself on the back for doing such an AMAZING *cough*decently/sorta consistent*cough* job with my monthly updates in 2015. Well, 2016 has proved to be a completely different animal, and the struggle has been real. So I’ve come up with a new format to keeping you all in the loop of my going-on’s and I’m calling it “Catching Up” because I’ll be catching up with all you guys and catching up on my challenges, and catching up on anything and everything blogging and reading related. Catching Up on Life This year… Read more »

Top Ten Books on My Spring TBR

Top Ten Books on My Spring TBR

March 15, 2016 Memes 7

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week we list our top 10 book-related things. This week is Top Ten Books On My Spring TBR. Most of these aren’t going to be new releases because realistically I’ve got plenty of books on my shelf (#ShelfLove) that I’ve been meaning to get to and a bunch of back list that I have checked out from the library. Also, I’m not going to lie some of these may have been on previous TTT TBR lists. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater A Little Something Different by… Read more »

Let’s Talk: Book Boyfriends #ShelfLove

Let’s Talk: Book Boyfriends #ShelfLove

March 12, 2016 Discussion 2

I’m participating in the #ShelfLove Challenge this year! And along with focusing on reading my own books, the hosts have also provided monthly discussion prompts. February’s prompt was… Who is your book boyfriend or girlfriend or best friend? What qualities does this character have that makes him/her the best? Even though, I’m not currently fawning over any particular book boyfriend, growing up I was very fond of George Cooper from the Song of the Lioness series and seeing him as a dad in The Daughter of the Lioness duology made me fall for him even more. Handsome, funny, king of… Read more »

Bookish Things You’d Give a Kidney For

March 11, 2016 Blog Events 1

The lovely Rachel @ Beauty and the Bookshelf is hosting this wonderful event to help out bloggers like me who trying to avoid a long-term blogging slump. Bookish Things You’d Give a Kidney For March 10 is World Kidney Day, and people always talk about giving a kidney for something. SO. What bookish things would you give a kidney for? It doesn’t have to be physical objects–get creative! It could be a new book from a favorite author or a ship setting sail or getting an epilogue–the possibilities are endless. I’m not sure if there really is anything that I’d actually give… Read more »

An Interview with Myself

An Interview with Myself

March 9, 2016 Blog Events 2

When I saw that Rachel @ Beauty and the Bookshelf was planning this blogging event, it was like she reached through the depths of the internet into my soul and figured out exactly what I needed. Because if you haven’t noticed, I’ve been struggling real hard with blogging for the past few weeks. But I’m HOPING that this is the exact push I need to get back into the swing of things. So to get things started, I’m interviewing myself. Name? Location? Age? Hey! I’m Jordin. I currently live in Madison, WI and I’m 25 years old. Family peoples? I live with my… Read more »

Reread Review: The Will of Empress

Reread Review: The Will of Empress

March 7, 2016 Reviews 0 ★★★★★

I’ve been rereading a lot of Tamora Pierce lately, partially because of the 2016 challenges I signed up for, and mostly because she’s one of my all-time favorite authors. So I was pretty freaking excited to get to The Will of the Empress in the Emelan books, because I had only reread it one or two times before this (which considering my relationship with  Tamora Pierce books isn’t that many times). Also, rereading the two quartets that lead up to this book, I just REALLY wanted to get to when they were older and had more experiences under their belt. And… Read more »

ARC Review: Remembrance

ARC Review: Remembrance

March 1, 2016 Reviews 2 ★★★★★

I couldn’t wait to get a hold of Remembrance and I was sooo lucky that Val from Innocent Smiley picked me up a copy from ALA Midwinter! Seriously though this is what I’ve been prepping for with the Mediator (Re)Read Along, and am so happy to report that Remembrance lived up to all my expectations! I think that Remembrance is probably the best of the Mediator books for quite a few reasons: It had a fully fleshed out plotline with intricacies and subplots – like when will Jesse and Suze set a date, can Suze convince Jesse that they don’t need… Read more »
